Scholten's team works with a variety of hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, corporate clients and inpatient rehabilitation units, providing staffing, practice management systems and consulting services to enhance the performance of their rehabilitation programs.
Having joined Agility Health in 1977, Scholten has dedicated his entire professional career to expanding and improving the company's ability to serve its clients, partners and patients. He has been instrumental in helping to grow Agility Health to its current top-10 standing in the United States and has been involved in the evolution of virtually all facets of operations.
Scholten's progressive leadership experience has included diverse clinical and management responsibilities, from those of staff therapist and clinical manager, to chief operating officer. His career began in contract therapy management, with oversight for establishing clinical service contracts with hospitals and skilled nursing facilities. In 1980, he launched the first of what would become Agility Health's multi-state group of owned and partnered outpatient clinics.
Scholten was subsequently named Vice President of Operations, with a focus on managing clinical startup operations for new hospital contracts in Michigan and Illinois. Later, as Vice President of Human Resources, Scholten oversaw all professional staff recruitment and benefits administration, developed a new compensation management structure and established a system of international therapist recruitment to address a U.S. labor shortage. In 2000, Scholten was named Chief Operating Officer, and in 2003 he and partner Steve Davidson led the management buyout of Agility Health's predecessor firm, GNA.
Scholten is a licensed physical therapist in both Michigan and Indiana. He is a corporate member of the Michigan Minority Business Development Council and has served as a board member for Unity Christian High School and foundation trustee for Allendale Christian School. He is also actively involved in the Kids Hope USA mentoring program serving Allendale Public Schools.
Scholten earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physical therapy from Wayne State University in Detroit, and has pursued graduate coursework in healthcare administration at St. Joseph's College of Maine. He and his wife Carol reside in Allendale, Mich.
